Missing Girl Found near the Black Rock Lake after Being Gone for Almost a Year Veronika Alekseev disappeared in summer 2013 and was found early this morning in the forest near her hometown Blackwell, say authorities. No arrests have been made. By Richard Hogan on April 17, 2014 08:10AM
Detective Adam Gage had an unusual morning when he encountered a young woman walking barefoot on the road about five miles west from the Black Rock Lake. The girl, Veronika Alekseev, was reported missing almost a year ago on June 22 by her Estonian parents after she never returned from her walk. She was missing for 300 days. The forests and paths surrounding the Black Rock Lake were searched thoroughly after her disappearance but nothing was found. Several volunteers also helped the family in the search but to no avail. Authorities had given up hope on finding her alive.
Adam Gage tells the story of how he saw a white figure in the forest and decided to pull over. He recognized Veronika Alekseev from the news reports he had seen last year for she was still dressed in the same white dress she was wearing at the time of disappearance. She appeared unharmed but disoriented and she wasn't wearing any shoes. Adam Gage walked her to the car and drove her to the police station where her parents were immediately contacted with the good news.
She has been taken to the county hospital before further investigation begins, police confirmed.

Strange Dirt Found under the Fingernails of the Missing Girl Veronika Alekseev, who was found near the Black Rock Lake after being missing for 300 days, can't remember what happened. She was found unharmed but there were tracks of soil under her fingernails that is from nowhere near the area. The police is still trying to figure out where Veronika spent the winter. By Richard Hogan on April 20, 2014 10:50AM
There is yet no clue to how Veronika Alekseev survived the winter in the forest for early reports suggest Veronika can't recall anything from the time period she was gone. Detective Adam Gage found the girl walking barefoot in the forest still dressed in the same clothes she wore when she was reported missing. According to Gage she said only few words on the drive back to the town. She told him she has no idea where her shoes went. Gage paid attention to how dirty her fingernails were despite the girl being dressed in clean white otherwise.
The police have been analyzing the dirt found under her fingernails, but as of yet there is no clue to where the dirt is from. It is unlike the soil in anywhere near the Black Rock Lake.
We were unable to interview any family members of Veronika Alekseev.
